Hypermature Lens - slit lamp only

This 94 year old patient has a disciform scar in the right eye. He has had vision reduced to the level of light perception for 8 years at the time this video was taken. The right lens shows a hypermature cataract with loss of cortical substance and wrinkling of the anterior capsule. This is what a lens looks like when most of the cortex is gone. This patient never had a phacolytic reaction.
