INDENTATION (DYNAMIC, COMPRESSION) GONIOSCOPY

Indentation gonioscopy is used to push the iris back away from the cornea to afford a better view into the iridocorneal angle. In eyes with convex irises the angle is obscured. By pushing on a gonioscopy lens with a small area of corneal contact (Zeiss, Posner or Susmann) one can physically drive the lens-iris diaphragm posteriorly and determine whether the iris is pushed forward by pupillary block or is held forward by synechiae.
